بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱللَّهُ نُورُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ مَثَلُ نُورِهِۦ كَمِشۡكَوٰةٖ فِيهَا مِصۡبَاحٌۖ ٱلۡمِصۡبَاحُ فِي زُجَاجَةٍۖ ٱلزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوۡكَبٞ دُرِّيّٞ يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٖ زَيۡتُونَةٖ لَّا شَرۡقِيَّةٖ وَلَا غَرۡبِيَّةٖ يَكَادُ زَيۡتُهَا يُضِيٓءُ وَلَوۡ لَمۡ تَمۡسَسۡهُ نَارٞۚ نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٖۚ يَهۡدِي ٱللَّهُ لِنُورِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَيَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَٰلَ لِلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ
God is the Light
of the heavens and of the earth;
His Light is a parable,
of a niche which holds a lamp,
the lamp enclosed in a glass,
the glass which glows like a gleaming star,
lit from an olive tree, blessed;
whose soil is neither East nor West;
its very oil would shine forth
though untouched by fire:
Light upon Light.
God guides to His Light whom He wills;
He strikes parables for humankind –
for God is Knower of all things.
24: 35
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلضُّحَىٰ
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ
مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ
أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمٗا فَـَٔاوَىٰ
وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلّٗا فَهَدَىٰ
وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلٗا فَأَغۡنَىٰ
فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ
وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ
وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ
1 By the morning light
in its brilliance;
2 by the darkening night
in its stillness;
3 your Lord has not abandoned you,
nor is He abhorring [you].
4 what comes hereafter
will prove finer for you
than what came before;
5 and your Lord will provide,
satisfying you.
6 Did He not find you orphaned
and give shelter?
7 find you seeking and give guidance?
8 find you needing and suffice you?
9 So, do not oppress the orphan,
10 nor reproach the one who asks,
11 but proclaim the grace
of your Lord.
93
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
إِنَّ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱخۡتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلَّتِي تَجۡرِي فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِمَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن مَّآءٖ فَأَحۡيَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٖ وَتَصۡرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ وَٱلسَّحَابِ ٱلۡمُسَخَّرِ بَيۡنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ
In the creation
of the heavens and earth,
in the revolving
of night and day,
in the ships that sail upon the sea
for the gain of humankind,
in the rain that
God sends from the sky,
bringing life to the earth
after its death,
in the spreading of every
kind of beast through it,
in the directing of the winds
and clouds, floating
between heaven and earth –
in all these are signs for
people who use reason.
2: 164
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ
وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ
1 Say, He is God, the One,
2 God, the Absolute.
3 Neither did He beget,
nor was He begotten.
4 His like or equal there is none.
112
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
لَّيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ قِبَلَ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡبِرَّ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَءَاتَى ٱلۡمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ ذَوِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينَ وَٱبۡنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَٱلسَّآئِلِينَ وَفِي ٱلرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلۡمُوفُونَ بِعَهۡدِهِمۡ إِذَا عَٰهَدُواْۖ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ فِي ٱلۡبَأۡسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَحِينَ ٱلۡبَأۡسِۗ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ
Righteousness
does not reside
in turning your faces
toward East or West;
rather, it resides in those –
who believe in God
and the last day,
in the angels, the Book,
and the prophets;
who give their wealth
– despite their love it –
for kin, for orphans, the needy,
the traveler, for those who ask,and for freeing slaves;
who are steadfast in prayer,
who give in charity,
keeping their covenants;
who suffer in patience
hardship, pain, and
times of conflict –
they are the ones
who speak truth, and
they are the ones
mindful of God.
177
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُۚ لَا تَأۡخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٞ وَلَا نَوۡمٞۚ لَّهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَشۡفَعُ عِندَهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۚ يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيۡءٖ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَۚ وَسِعَ كُرۡسِيُّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۖ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُۥ حِفۡظُهُمَاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِيُّ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
God – there is no god but He,
the Living, the Self-Subsisting.
Never can slumber seize Him,
nor sleep. To Him belongs
all that is in the heavens, and
all that is on the earth.
Who can intercede with Him
except by His leave? He knows
what lies ahead, and
what lies behind.
None can approach His Knowing,
only as He wills.
His throne extends
over the heavens and the earth,
which He guards and preserves
with no fatigue,
for He is Most High,
Supreme.
2:255
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٖ
يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَ
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ
221 Shall I inform you
on whom the devils descend?
222 They descend on every sinful liar,
223 they pass on whatever is heard,
and most of them are liars.
224 And the poets are followed by
those who are astray.
225 Don’t you see them wandering
aimlessly through every valley?
226 Saying things
that they do not do?
227 Except those of them who believe
and do good deeds, and remember God
often, defending themselves only
when they have been wronged.
The wrongdoers shall soon know
their place of return.
26
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَيۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُ ٱلۡبَارِئُ ٱلۡمُصَوِّرُۖ لَهُ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
23 God is He, beyond Whom
there is no god, the Sovereign,
the Sanctified; the Source of Peace,
the Trustworthy, the Guardian,
the Almighty, the Irresistible,
the Supreme; Glorified is He,
beyond what they affiliate with Him.
24 He is God, the Creator,
the Originator, the Shaper of Forms;
His are the Most Sublime Names.
All that is the heavens and the earth
glorifies Him, and He is
Almighty, All Wise.
